The brief
Fjord’s app had grown to 60 screens in six years. Customers trusted the bank but avoided the app: support calls about simple balances doubled in 2024. The team asked for a redesign that would feel as steady as the institution behind it.
The approach
We started with one question customers kept asking: what can I spend today? Everything else became secondary. The new home screen answers it in a single number, with upcoming bills folded in underneath. A component library of 140 parts keeps eight squads shipping in the same voice.
Motion with a purpose
Transitions are slow and short, never decorative. Money moving between accounts animates once, so you can see where it went.
Outcome
Balance-related support calls dropped 38% in the first quarter after launch, and the app’s store rating went from 3.1 to 4.7.
